X Method

Standards allow auditors to test only a sample. X Method checks 100% of financial entries — and reports an accuracy percentage.

Created by Alex Laquis Resende with Gelmires Luiz dos Reis.

Full reconciliation

Bank statements are loaded into a database. The routine checks whether each cash movement exists in the books (journal and ledger), by date and amount, and flags gaps.

Accuracy score

The output is not “the sample passed”. It is an objective index of how fully treasury is reflected in the accounts — every record, not a fraction of them.

Non-text PDFs

When a statement is not searchable, the method converts the PDF to text and builds the dataset for automated matching.

Roadmap

The next step is to test whether each entry was posted to the correct general-ledger account — not only whether it exists.

The depth of a large audit firm, on 100% of the data, at a cost accessible to smaller businesses.
